Born in Greeley,
Colorado, Jeremy was raised in a Christian home by parents who were passionate about
missions, and he came to Christ at a young age through their witness and
example. At the age of 10, his family
moved to the Hopi Reservation in Arizona where his parents began serving as
missionaries. Growing up in a very
remote, cross-cultural environment gave him a passion for serving in missions. That passion, combined with inspiration from
the life of Nate Saint (MAF pilot and martyr), led him to enroll in the
missionary aviation program at Moody Bible Institute in Spokane,
Washington. In 2009, he graduated with a
Bachelor of Science in Missionary Aviation Technology along with his aircraft
mechanic certifications and a commercial pilot license with an instrument
rating. He went on to earn his flight
instructor certificate and began instructing at Spokane Turbine Center, a
non-profit that trains missionary pilots and mechanics in the operation and
maintenance of turbine-powered, technologically advanced aircraft.
Jodie was born
and raised in Tualatin, Oregon in a Christian home. Seeing her parents live out their faith in
their home, at church, and in their community greatly impacted Jodie’s decision
to follow Christ. While growing up she
was exposed to missions through the influence of numerous missionary
biographies, and in high school she took the opportunity to go on two
short-term mission trips. Jodie
graduated from Western Oregon University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree
in ASL/English Interpreting and earned her national certification through the
National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.
She interpreted for local school districts, her home church and for a
video relay interpreting company. After
college, she went on a short-term mission trip to Burkina Faso, West Africa and
began praying about pursuing full-time mission work. She didn’t receive a clear answer until a few
years later when she was introduced to a nice pilot/mechanic named Jeremy who was
preparing to serve in missions with MAF.
Their shared passion for missions sparked a mutual attraction and they
quickly realized that their meeting was no accident. They were married one year later, in 2011,
and are excited to continue pursuing their calling to missions together.
